London: Day 5 (a little late)
Day 5 was full of meetings. Not much exploring of new territory, except that we did get off the Tube at the Paddington station and all I could think about was the bear :)
It’s an interesting situation being in a foreign country, a place that’s completely new, and be focused on working, meetings, impressions, appearance and not getting lost as opposed to thinking about leisure and what cool sight to see next.
Not that it’s a negative experience (and not that we haven’t done our fair share of sight seeing), but I wonder what it would have been like had I visited London on Holiday instead of for work.
I’m still enjoying every minute immensely.
After a long afternoon of meetings with one of our partners, we and a few of their guys decided to visit the nearest pub. I haven’t been exposed to much social British drinking habits, but wow, was I in for a ride. I can summarize these habits by saying: they all drink in rounds, each person buys a round, there’s no opting out of a round.
When we met up with Marc’s cousin from Oxford for dinner, we had to warn him that we were already a few pints in. Luckily, he said we didn’t show it :)
Things I learned Today:
1. Changing trains in a Tube Station in heels is a huge accomplishment.
2. If I were to move to London, I’d want to live in Covent Garden.
3. Gelato is way better in Europe.
4. Drinking with Brits is a really dangerous undertaking.
5. The cold medicine in England is intense (and awesome).
