London: Day 7

Ahh, London and their Bank Holidays. Today, we were fortunate enough to be free of many meetings and I wasn’t about to waste our last full day in London in the hotel room. I grabbed Dan and we headed to the Borough Market, which came highly recommended from a variety of people.

The Borough Market was incredible. It’s a wholesale and retail market just off the London Bridge Tube stop. It’s amazing. Foods from around the world to buy, to eat, to smell, to see. Located just south of the Southwark Cathedral, it’s the prefect setting for tents and tables to set up each Thursday-Saturday. Not only did I eat the best toasted cheese I’ve ever had in my life, I ogled at the bins of imported olives, the cheeses, meats, breads, all of the foreign, imported foods. Also, I had my first experience with goat milk ice cream (interesting!).

After the market, we headed back toward the hotel to meet up with Marc and interview a potential candidate for our London office. We indulged in one final round of fish ‘n’ chips, then headed off to find someplace to grab a few drinks before nightfall. We ended up on a “roof terrace” (really, we just climbed out the window of a pub and sat on the ledge), drank a few beers and relaxed in the warm sun.

After navigating through another hotel debacle, Chinese Food was on tap next. We opted out of adventuring to another part of the city, and stuck around Queensway. We found a Hookah Bar, sat outside with our Apple Shisha, sipped the most amazing Arabic Mint Tea, and nibbled on bits of baklava.

Heavenly way to spend the last evening in London. I can’t believe the week is over!
